Researchers also found that these diets reduced the risk of mild cognitive impairment, a condition that often comes before dementia. This suggests that what people eat may slow or prevent the early steps toward cognitive decline.
The study did not prove that diet alone prevents dementia. But the scale and consistency of the data make the link hard to ignore.

The new dementia findings extend this story. They suggest that an anti-inflammatory diet protects the brain from midlife to older age.
In other words, the same foods that support mood may also support memory and long-term brain health.
